Title I-Part A, of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965, provides funding for supplemental academic support to schools with a high percentage of poverty. The level of poverty is determined by the number of children in the schools receiving free or reduced‐price meals or direct certification data at schools with Community Eligibility Provision. This is the program that allows all the students at FMSHS to enjoy a free breakfast and lunch.
Title 1 supports our current school with a behavior interventionist, paraprofessionals, instructional coaches, supplemental classroom materials and equipment, professional development for teachers, parental engagement activities, after-school tutoring and summer programs. Since becoming a Title
1 school in 2010, FMSHS has purchased over 400 computers, laptop carts, printers, thousands of books for students and teachers, classroom supplies, instructional materials, agendas, and more.
The monthly Pawprints newsletter is produced by Title 1 staff and paid for by Title 1 monies. Our Parent Nights are a service of our Guidance Department and Title 1 staff.
